Draw out structures for generic fatty acid synthesis and degradation. Know what the difference between an acetyl group and acyl group is. Know what a malonate looks like is. Know what a methylene group is. Know what happens to a molecule when it is reduced or oxidised. Know what desaturation means and why desaturating the activated acyl group in the first step of degradation is an oxidation reaction.
