does fish oil capsules thin the blood, and is it safe for me to take if i am on aspirin?
as i am on the aspirin to thin the blood, but worried incase the fish oil could cause bleeding
yes i could ask the pharmacist but a lot of professionals are scared to say and usually say as k your doctor and i might add they are also scared sometimes to say, they wont take the risk, as sometimes this cause bleeding to the brain thanks for your answer
to arrm your answer is very good and i can see by your links how complex a subject like this is, not many can give a straight answer to this because no one really knows for sure thanks

I think it might be okay. This are some excerp which I think useful for you..
"McDaniel and colleagues are following up with a similar study in which they are adding a low-dose aspirin to both the fish oil supplement and placebo groups. Some research has shown that aspirin can facilitate the anti-inflammatory properties of omega-3 fatty acids, and low-dose aspirin is commonly included in the medication regimen of patients with cardiovascular disease."[1]
"In addition, Smith and colleagues isolated the specific compound from omega-3 fatty acids that has these beneficial effects in mice (a metabolite of the omega-3 fatty acid DHA, known as 4-HDHA), and the enzyme that produces it (5-lipoxygenase, or 5-LOX). They showed that COX enzymes are not involved in omega-3 breakdown, suggesting that aspirin and NSAIDs – taken by millions of Americans – will not interfere with omega-3 benefits."[2]

i would ask the pharmacist or it might tell you on the aspirin packet what not to take with it, but i,m sure it,s ok.
